Introduction - Dr Nicole Taleon (Australian GP, mentor and coach to IMGs)

About the Presenter

Dr Nicole Taleon is a Filipino-trained doctor and a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP), currently working as a full-time GP on the Sunshine Coast, Australia.

She graduated from medical school in the Philippines in 2013 and moved to Australia in 2018 after successfully passing the AMC Part 1 and Part 2 examinations. She began her Australian medical career working as a junior doctor in a public hospital, gaining firsthand experience within the Australian hospital system before transitioning into general practice.

Dr Taleon completed her GP training through RVTS from 2021 to 2024 and achieved Fellowship in 2025.

For the past 7 years, she has been actively mentoring and coaching overseas-trained doctors, particularly Filipino IMGs, who aspire to work as doctors in Australia. She has personally guided hundreds of doctors through different stages of their Australian journey — from exam preparation to hospital job applications, interviews, and workforce integration. Many of her mentees are now successfully working across Australia in hospital and GP roles.

What sets Dr Taleon’s mentoring apart is that it is doctor-to-doctor guidance. Having personally navigated the Australian medical system herself, she understands both the clinical and non-clinical challenges overseas doctors face — including CV preparation, selection criteria, interviews, and adapting to Australian workplace expectations.

This course brings together her firsthand experience, practical insights, and proven strategies to help overseas doctors strengthen their applications and improve their chances of securing hospital positions in Australia.
